Born in Lacombe, NWT in 1900.  A tremendous advocate of physical fitness, Mr. Michener was still jogging and climbing mountains into his 80’s.

Garry Lindberg

Dr. Garry Lindberg graduated from LTCHS in 1954 and went on to a distinguished career working with the Canada Space Agency.  From 1974 - 1981 he was in charge of the group that developed the Canadarm, used on the Space Shuttle.  

  • Doctorate in Engineering Mechanics, University of Cambridge, England
  • Project Manager of the Space Shuttle Attached Remote Manipulator System (Canadarm)
  • Executive Director, National Research Council
  • Vice President, Corporate Services and Research, Canadian Space Agency
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics (with Distinction), University of Alberta
  • Authored over fifty papers and reports

  • Appointed as judge to the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench

  • Outstanding athlete excelling in football and hockey
  • Distinguished twenty-five year record with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, working for part of his career in undercover work fighting the international drug trade

  • While still in high school was an alternate in the 1960 Winter Olympics in Speed Skating
  • Graduated from the University of Montana in Journalism
