Dick Baker Award

On behalf of the Public School Boards’ Association of Alberta (PSBAA), President Dennis MacNeil congratulates all of the winners of PSBAA Special Recognition awards at the Association’s annual Spring General Assembly (SGA).

This year the highly-anticipated SGA was held in person at the Westin downtown Calgary. A total of six awards were presented at the Special Recognition Dinner on Saturday June 1, 2024.IMG_3508-1.jpg

“The members of our association believe that it is important to recognize the significant contributions of public school trustees, administrators, and members of the greater community whose efforts further reflect the promotion of and support for public school education,” says PSBAA President, Dennis MacNeil.

This year, the Association presented the Dick Baker Legacy Award to an individual who, over their career in Public Education, has modeled the values of integrity, compassion, respect, mentorship, and leadership, leaving a lasting and positive legacy for those who follow.

This year’s recipient of the Dick Baker Lagacy Award is retired trustee and public education supporter, Bill Stuebing. The Public School Boards’ Association of Alberta, is very pleased to offer our congratulations to Bill for being selected for this special honour.

“I feel both honoured and humbled to receive such an award,” says Dr. Bill Stuebing. “I thank the Association most sincerely for making me a recipient in memory of such a good man. I can only hope that all of us can continue to follow Dick’s legacy.”

The Public School Boards’ Association of Alberta (PSBAA) is the voice of public school boards in the province. We believe public schools are the first choice in our communities, where children can go to learn and live the values of democracy together, reflecting our hope, and shaping the future of our communities.
