The Alternative School Centre has been part of Red Deer Public’s Alternative Programs for more than ten years.
The Alternative School Centre provides full and part-time learning programs (online, in-person and blended) for Red Deer students in Grades 9 to 13. We also offer various opportunities to complete individual courses and upgrade, both during the school year and through summer school.
Full-time online learning for Grades 9 to 12: For students who want to learn online for the full school year in the regular program.
At-Home learning for Grades K-8 (2020-2022 only): This fully online program is in response to COVID-19 and is only accessible by families who have concerns about their children being in in-person learning during the pandemic. Please contact your designated school for information about at-home learning.
Returning Grade 12 students: For fourth-year high school students wanting to take some extra courses online during the school year.
Grade 10-12 Concurrent Courses: For senior high students at an in-person RDPSD school who want to take some additional courses online during the school year. Concurrent students wishing to register in a concurrent course need to meet with their Vice Principal.
Summer School: For RDPSD senior high students who want to take an additional course in July.
Upgrading and Mature Students: For other opportunities to upgrade or graduate, beyond those above.
