Message From the Principal

Dear Central Cyclone Families,

I am pleased to welcome you to the 2022-23 school year! I take pride in welcoming all of our students and families to the Central Middle School community! I am excited to be your principal. Myself, Mr. Good and Mr. Archer are excited about the opportunities that this coming year will bring.

Our two main school goals this year include:

To Refresh, Renew and Revitalize the culture at Central Middle after several challenging years of restrictions. This will include the continuation of clubs, intramurals, sports teams, field trips, band concerts and special events, as these were opportunities that were lost during the pandemic. We are very proud of the school culture that has made Central Middle School a special place to be for many years. Our online store for Central Cyclone clothing will be open in the fall.

A comprehensive Intervention Program will continue to operate in order to address the learning needs in Literacy and Numeracy of our students. This program has been very successful in both improving skills in students, as well as building a belief in self-efficacy in them.

Central Middle School is committed to working together to provide our students with a great learning environment, and a place where students want to be. My belief is that all students can learn, in their own way and with the supports provided by the school to achieve their full potential. We seek to find how each child learns and to differentiate to ensure that student needs are being met. At our school, we want all students to achieve their academic, athletic and social goals. We have many wraparound supports including our administration, LAT, counselling and CLW team that are available for students who need them. We have an incredible professional and classified staff that work to provide excellent universal and targeted instruction and support. We at Central hope that all children will enjoy school as we strive to create a nurturing learning environment that is positive, safe, warm, caring, as well as a fun place to learn and grow. Students are encouraged to get involved with our many clubs, intramurals, athletic teams and leadership opportunities. We want middle school to be a positive experience for all of our students and families.

Student success comes from a partnership between you, our staff, and our community.  We see power in teamwork and collaboration between our school and families at Central. Education is a group effort, and we greatly appreciate the support you provide for your children at home and at school to help them meet their learning goals.

Please take time to keep up on our school communications. These are available in the following forms:

  • The Central Middle School website is full of great information and we would ask that you check the website often for news and updates.  http://central.rdpsd.ab.ca/.
  • We use School Messenger on a regular basis to send important and timely information to parents.
  • Please be sure to read our weekly newsletter, the "Cyclone Scope."  All Central families will receive a weekly email on Sundays with the newsletter attached.  This is our primary mode of communicating important announcements and event information to parents and we hope you stay updated on what's going on in our school.
  • Our staff is available by their school email and by phone (403) 346-4397)

We are excited for the start of this year, and we look forward to an amazing year of teaching and learning, as well as many other enriching experiences at Central Middle School.

Sincerely,
Ms. Amanda Wilson
Principal
