A Message from the Board of Trustees on Government Policy Announcement

A priority for Red Deer Public Schools is to ensure schools are safe, caring and inclusive spaces for all students no matter who they are or how they identify. This is consistent with our legal obligations under the provincial Education Act and the Alberta Human Rights Act, as well as our Board’s commitment to supporting all students.

Red Deer Public’s Board of Trustees are dedicated to fostering an environment where diversity is celebrated, and every student feels valued and respected. Parental support and communication between schools and parents, guardians and caregivers are at the core of this commitment. As we always have, Red Deer Public will continue to work closely with parents, guardians, and caregivers as essential partners in the educational process.

School divisions have not yet received direction or guidance from Alberta Education regarding the premier’s announcement. We will need time to review the government’s announcement, and we look forward to being involved in consultation and conversation as we move forward. We remain committed to ensure all students in Red Deer Public will continue to feel safe and welcome in our schools each and every day.
