Grad FAQ

Q - I KNOW I OWE MONEY FOR SCHOOL FEES. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?

A - GRAD FEES must be paid in order to participate in the Ceremony. The ceremonial Grad Gowns are ordered early in the year so please be sure to pay your grad fee. All OTHER outstanding fees/charges MUST be paid prior to gown pick up AND before you can purchase Banquet Tickets. We strongly urge you to monitor your school fees through PowerSchool. Payments can be made online, by visiting the bookstore or calling the school.

Q - MY FAMILY CANNOT AFFORD MY SCHOOL FEES. DOES THIS MEAN I CANNOT PARTICIPATE ON GRAD DAY?

A - Every effort is made to accommodate students with financial difficulties. Please speak with the business manager regarding your school account. As well, if you require assistance with grad fees, banquet tickets or attire please refer to the Grad Equity tab. The Grad Equity fund was established to help support students to attend grad but cannot afford it.

Q - DO I NEED A TICKET FOR THE CEREMONY?

A -  Tickets are not required for the CEREMONY at the CENTRIUM and you may bring an unlimited number of guests.

Q - HOW LONG DOES THE CEREMONY LAST?

A - The ceremony lasts approximately 2.5 hours depending on the size of the grad class.

Q - WHAT WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO MAKE APPOINTMENTS ON GRAD DAY?

A - If you are making hair appointments for example, please do not schedule them before 2:00 PM as the ceremony may run overtime. As well, scheduling appointments too late in the day may interfere with the promenade which starts at approximately 6:15 PM. Please allow time for photos.

Q - WHEN DO GRAD BANQUET TICKETS GO ON SALE?

A - Grad banquet tickets are sold online and go on sale in EARLY MAY. Watch for the link on the Banquet Tab for the countdown. Please verify that you are on the final GRAD LIST and monitor your PowerSchool Account for outstanding school fees. Students who are not on the grad list and who owe school fees will be blocked from ordering banquet tickets.

Q - WHAT I.D. NUMBER DO I USE TO PURCHASE GRAD BANQUET TICKETS?

A - Your student ID card has 2 numbers. The ASN (Alberta Student Number) which is located at the bottom left hand corner of your Student ID card will be needed to access your online account for you banquet tickets.

Q - DO GRADUATES HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR BANQUET TICKETS?

A - YES, all guests require a ticket for entrance into the banquet

Q - HOW MANY PEOPLE SIT AT EACH BANQUET TABLE?

A - There are 9 chairs per table. During the first round of banquet ticket sales, you are eligible to buy a maximum of 6 tickets (graduate + 5 guests). Approximately two weeks later, the second round of ticket sales will be open where you may purchase up to 3 more tickets. The amount of ticket sales available in the second round may vary depending on how many tickets are still available from the first round.

Q - HOW CAN I GUARANTEE THE ADDITIONAL 3 SEATS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT MY TABLE FOR THE 2ND ROUND OF TICKET SALES?

A - Sorry we cannot guarantee this but you may want to consider selecting a table closer to the back of the room on the first round to increase your chances of sitting all together.

Q - WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO ARRANGE SEATING CLOSE TO FRIENDS?

A - The best way is to get together (or by phone call) and having 2 computers running at the same time.

Q - MY EX IS COMING TO THE BANQUET. DO WE HAVE TO SIT TOGETHER?

A - No. You may choose seats at a different table when you order your tickets online. Each party can purchase their tickets separately (must have Grad's Alberta Student Number ID #). Please have a conversation early to decide what would work best for your family.

Q - HOW DO I PURCHASE TICKETS ONLINE IF I DON'T HAVE A CREDIT CARD?

A - Debit may be an available option (participating banks only). Prepaid Credit Cards (Visa and MasterCard) are also acceptable, but must have the funds to cover the ticket price and any card issuer fees. You may also ask relatives or friends to purchase the tickets for you.

Q - CAN I USE MY VOLUNTEER BINGO CREDITS TO PAY FOR MY GRAD FEES OR BANQUET TICKETS?

A - Sorry due to a change in the Booster Club's use of proceeds from AGLC, using Bingo Credits to pay for Grad Fees and Banquet tickets is no longer an option.

Q - IS IT OKAY TO BRING CHILDREN OR BABIES TO THE BANQUET?

A - If you insist on bringing a youngster they must have a ticket. However, bringing a child under 5 years old to the banquet is strongly discouraged. Children are expected to sit quietly in their chair during the entire banquet and program as there will be speeches and it may be difficult for you and those around you to hear.

Q - I HAVE DIET RESTRICTIONS, CAN WE GET A DIFFERENT MEAL

A- Sorry, no. Fortunately, the catered menu will have varied and delicious food choices to accommodate your individual dietary needs.

Q - WHAT IS THE MENU SERVED AT THE BANQUET?

A - The menu may change year to year so you are encouraged to check the Lindsay Thurber school website to see the current grad year's menu. The menu is normally posted in April.

Q - DO I GET TO CHOOSE MY MEAL OPTIONS

A -  You will not be required to choose meal options when purchasing your ticket as the instructional video suggests.
