Program Description

* OSC is beside the medical supplies shop located in downtown Red Deer, across from “Copies Now” and "Original Joe's".

Programs:
* Outreach and Home Education for K-12, including adults.
* There are fees involved in attending OSC.  Please read the registration page and contact the school for further individual course information.

Grades:
*We serve students and adults in grades 1-12 in both home education and outreach education


Outreach Program Description:
* The Outreach Program is a “tutored”, independent learning, non-attendance based model
* For students in grades 10 – 12 there is flexible student/school initiated entry
* After September 30, grade 9 and under “special circumstances” entry, contact Principal of Alternative School Programs
* Students need to be able to do independent learning (a parent supervisor / tutor is very important for grades 1-9)
* Alberta Distance Learning Materials are used
*  Students should have average and better reading ability
* For grades 10 – 12 courses offered are in the “14” and above level “streams”
* For grades 9 and under courses are offered in the “regular stream”
* OSC has no learning materials and no program for students functioning at or below a K&E level. (K&E is "Knowledge and Employability", which replaces the former IOP, Integrated Occupational Program.)
* A student with a mild/moderate learning disability can be accommodated depending on the nature of the disability and if the student has already learned “strategies” to manage the disability
