Five Years and Five Incredible Books!
Congratulations to One Book, Many Schools for an amazing program that promotes family literacy. Literacy is one of the key priorities for Red Deer Public Schools--it is so important because literacy is the foundation for all learning.
What a great idea to have students from many of our schools read together with their families. This year, more than 5000 parents and children will be reading the same book at the same time! It's great to have you be a part of that!
From The Good Dog to A Snicker of Magic, these have been great stories taking kids, moms and dads on great adventures. That's the beauty of reading. Great stories take you to amazing places, ignite the imagination and share many good values and lessons.
No doubt this year's book, Rebel Glory, will continue that tradition. We appreciate the involvement of local author, Sigmund Brouwer, to help mark the fifth year of this program. It's also nice to have a connection to Red Deer's favourite hockey team, the REBELS!
Enjoy your times reading together. We hope you continue that tradition by picking up more books and reading as a family.
