About The Foundation
The Foundation for Red Deer Public Schools was established in 1993 to enhance and enrich learning opportunities for students throughout Red Deer Public Schools. By connecting with our community, staff, parents and students, we are able to provide opportunities that are “Above and Beyond for Children.”
While government provides funding for basic education, there are many opportunities to support school and district based initiatives that would not be available without the involvement of the Foundation and our supporters
Some of our success stories
- Rachel’s Challenge…over 6000 students and staff were impacted by a presentation about Rachel Scott, the first student killed in the Columbine school tragedy. Her powerful message of acceptance, caring for one another and being a person for change has created a chain reaction of kindness throughout our school
- Healing Through the Arts…as part of our ongoing grants program, art students from Lindsay Thurber work on art projects with patients on the rehabilitation unit at Red Deer Regional Hospital which provides new skills and amazing connection through the power of art.
- Above and Beyond for Children – this year the Foundation will provide $65,000 to support 37 school based projects ranging from arts and active living to citizenship and cultural initiatives
